Out & About

Dressage Mar 09

Everyone at Ardis is encouraged to use the riding skills they learn in lessons in a way that interests them most. For some this may be attending clinics, for others competing and for others trail riding.

This page is to showcase what everyone's been up to ... the highs & the lows ... the good and the bad. Life with horses usually presents a mixed bag!! This page will include both in-house and external competitions /training days.

NRC Combined Training

Well done to Meals & Sansi who started the year off with a 6th in Newcomers as well as successfully completing the Intro course.

Central Coast Dressage Association

Soo took the boys out! Dom demonstrated great manners & was so much more relaxed than usual, scoring 58% in both his Medium tests. PJ managed a 3rd with 60% in his official elementary test and Galen stood quietly like a lamb all day, just soaking up the atmosphere and preparing himself for his great future.

NRC Show Jumping

Another well attended day with Jess/Midnight, Katie/Nipper (6th in 50cm), Soo/Lena, PJ, Dom (3rd in Official 1.05m & 5th in 1.15m) & Meals/Sansi all competing. Tori/Bucc decided it was too slippery for them and Izzy/Solly experienced their first ride away from home. Well done to all riders for keeping themselves & their ponies safe in the slippery conditions. Lovely pic of Jess letting Midnight know she did well :)

Big ride out!

Not to be outdone by the weather, Ardis riders took to the roads & trails en masse! We managed 10 horses in one hit - 8 ridden, 2 being led - and are proud to say that all behaved themselves (almost) all the way!

Soo lesson with Heath Ryan

What an inspirational man! Despite it being their first lesson with Heath, Dom & Soo were pushed to their limits but not beyond them. They'll definately be back for more when the opportunity presents!

WDA dressage championships

What a great day, even if it was a little bit warm! Tori & Bucc managed to stay as one! Meals & Sansi finished 4th & 5th in their Prelim & Novice tests. Lena & Soo finished Prep Reserve Champion. PJ & Soo won both their elementary tests to finish Elementary Champion. Dom was blatantly disobedient but showed improvement in some areas of his Medium tests. Tamsin had Pops out for the first time since his accident in April and wore a bit of attitude and Tamsin & Tom finished 4th & 6th in their Prelim & Novice tests.

Soo lessons with Andrew Hoy

Soo enjoyed jumping lessons on PJ & Dom with Andrew Hoy at Northside's grounds. What a fabulous opportunity to learn from one of the world's top riders. As you can see, she even persuaded Andrew to ride Dom!

Pete

Peter's great fund raising efforts

No, not chasing a loose horse! Pete has run in a few half marathon's this year in Sydney & Melbourne, seen here in Melbourne, June 09. He has just become a CanToo Hall of Fame member (www.cantoo.org.au) for raising over $5,000 for Cure Cancer Australia. His final exertion for 2009 will be the World Masters Games in Oct in Sydneywhich includes 28,000 competitors from all over the world. Why don't we all get behind him & bump the $5K to $10K?! Contact Soo if you are interested in being involved [p.s. Pete hasn't asked that I plug him, but I think he deserves support, Soo]
